Jo Beth Taylor kicks off her Rottnest experience with a peddle around the Island.

  • Cycling is synonymous with visiting Rottnest. There are virtually no cars on the island and certainly no traffic! So, a bike is the ideal way to get around to the 63 beaches and 20 bays.
  • Take in the awe-inspiring scenery around you and feel the abundance of space. It’s an uninterrupted experience you simply can’t get anywhere else.
  • Kids can safely roam on pushbikes and is a haven for childhood joys.
  • Bring your own bike to the island or get wheeled up at Pedal & Flipper with an assortment of bikes for hire.
  • Once you arrive to the island, you can head straight there to pick up your bike and be on your way faster to the endless cycle paths.
  • Wadjemup Lighthouse is one of the only lighthouses in Western Australia you can enter and tour inside with 360-degree views of the island
  • Not many people know about the military history of Rottnest Island and its part in the coastal defence of Western Australia during WW2.
  • Segway and e-bike tours are also offered on the island. Quokka Hopper is a new golf-cart service as more of a resort treat during your stay the island as an on-demand private transfer.
  • For the adventurous type, you can cycle around the entire island - all 22 km of it! The Island Ride loop takes you all the way to the west end of Wadjmeup, where you get to experience parts of the island that are only open to those on bicycles.
