• Direction Island, also known as DI, is famous for its 'Rip', a diverse marine life consisting of vivid fish, corals, reef sharks, huge wrasse and parrotfish, which can be safely snorkelled during a visit to the island.
• The island is a popular anchorage for round-the-world yachts, and many visiting sailors have left calling card paraphernalia and other memorabilia on the palm trees.
• Camping on Direction Island is permitted for those who wish to experience its tranquillity and remoteness fully. However, visitors should arrive fully self-sufficient as there is no drinking water or electricity available.
• Visitors should not miss the morning ferry to Direction Island, where they can relax on Australia's best beach, enjoy a picnic, and take a historical walk along the island's trail.
• The Rip is also a must-visit spot for snorkelling enthusiasts. It's an experience that visitors will never forget.
